Sudan Crisis Call

The Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made three official statements in Arabic calling for an end to the fighting in Sudan and a return to dialogue. He expressed concern over the clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in Khartoum and other cities, and urged the warring parties to exercise restraint. Abiy Ahmed also stated that he believed the Sudanese people had the wisdom and ability to resolve the crisis.

Ethiopia in support of Sudan

On April 17, Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen spoke with Ali El-Sadig Ali, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan. Demeke shared Ethiopia's unease about the continuing conflict and extended Ethiopia's support to the Sudanese people. He expressed sympathy for the individuals who were affected by the violence and lost their lives.

Partnership with Italy

Leaders of Ethiopia, Italy, and Somalia met in Addis Ababa to strengthen their partnership and investments in Horn Africa.They focused on security, trade, and economic growth. The meeting resulted in commitments to strengthen partnerships, invest in infrastructure, and enhance Italian private sector investments. Italy considers Ethiopia's stability and integrity a priority for national interest because of its location on the migratory route to Europe. Italy's Prime Minister also had discussions with Abiy and President Mohamud on security and post-al-Shabab reconstruction. The leaders of Italy and Somalia concluded their two-day visit to Ethiopia after the meeting.
